SENSES AKUSTIK ACOUSTIC LIGHTING
An acoustic lighting collection that integrates acoustic materials into every luminaire
Senses Akustik Acoustic Lighting combines illumination and acoustic materials in a single spatial element. Its ten product families, ranging from the curved Arc to the hand-stitched Nexus, allow designers to incorporate acoustic comfort into ceiling designs while maintaining the functional performance expected of architectural lighting.
ABOUT THIS ENTRY
Senses Akustik Acoustic Lighting comprises ten product families: Arc, Branch, Cuba, Echo, Shell, Bloom, Dome, Beam, Hexo and Nexus. Rather than treating lighting and acoustic treatment as separate elements, each luminaire incorporates acoustic fabric, felt or Colorline material into its form and finish. The designs range from soft curves to geometric and sculptural compositions. Shell is available in Plain, Ribbed and Uneven Ribbed patterns; Beam offers four pattern options; Dome comes in Square, Round and Oval forms; and Nexus features a hand-stitched, felt-based design. The collection was launched in October 2021 and is represented in Malaysia by Monara Surfaces Sdn. Bhd., based in Johor Bahru.
WHY THIS ENTRY STANDS OUT
The collection makes acoustic comfort a visible part of the design rather than a hidden technical feature. Across the range, the lighting specifications include an LED lifespan of 50,000 hours, CRI 80/90, colour temperatures of 3,000 K, 4,000 K or 6,000 K, and a UGR below 19 for most models. Acoustic tests conducted in accordance with ASTM C423 / ISO 354 recorded average sound absorption values of 0.58 m² Sabine per sample for Nexus and 0.25 m² Sabine per sample for Dome. Both use 100% PET, with 60% recycled content. For fire performance, Senses Akustik declares component-level results including ASTM E84 Class 1/A, supported by a test report issued in its name, and BS EN 13501-1 B-s1, d0.
