Bosch glass downdraft ventilation that extracts steam directly at the hob
The Bosch Series 8 Downdraft Hood (DDW88MM66) is a glass ventilation module installed directly behind the hob, drawing steam and odours away as they rise. When not in use, it retracts into the worktop for a streamlined appearance. The product was launched in Malaysia on 8 April 2026.
ABOUT THIS ENTRY
The Series 8 Downdraft Hood (model DDW88MM66) is an 80 cm downdraft ventilation module featuring a glass front, which Bosch calls the Glass Draft module. Designed to complement Bosch hobs, it can be installed with a gap between the hob and hood or, with a special accessory, seamlessly integrated into a single worktop cut-out. Its Guided Air technology creates a V-shaped air curtain behind the glass panel to draw steam from every cooking zone, while the PerfectAir sensor automatically adjusts the extraction rate. The hood operates in exhaust or recirculation mode, with a maximum extraction rate of 775 m³/h, and measures 816 mm wide and 709 mm high. In Malaysia, it is distributed by BSH Home Appliances Sdn. Bhd.
WHY THIS ENTRY STANDS OUT
The Bosch Series 8 Downdraft Hood combines effective ventilation with a distinctive design feature for kitchen islands. When connected to compatible Bosch electric hobs via Wi-Fi, it switches on automatically with the cooktop and switches off after a short run-on period. It can also be controlled through the Home Connect app. According to Bosch, the hood operates at a noise level of 62 dB, achieves 90% grease separation and carries an A energy efficiency rating. Its motor can be positioned up to 3 metres away, allowing greater flexibility in kitchen planning and freeing up cabinet space. Bosch’s brochure notes that the module received a Red Dot Design Award in 2020, and the company lists the IDS’ Choice Award 2026 for Kitchen Innovation of the Year.
